December 13th

This is our last lesson before the Christmas Holidays! I managed to finish my introduction and half my investigation. We are going to play games for the second half!

Sketchup

Today we did the tutorials. I found them interesting, and it was good because it was really clear and they would pause the tutorial to make sure that you understood what they were saying. I managed to make a house (or a shape that looked like a house) and some steps and windows (rectangles on the sides). I only watched the first movie because I spent roughly the whole of the first period wondering what was wrong with my computer.

Investigation on Sketch Up

Sketchup is really cool, I found out that it is to create plans for houses or interiors.
You can draw it flat or in 3D, in 3D you can put a flat shape on the ground and then click on a tool then select the shape to make it 3D, as high or flat as you like. You can also make arches.

I have finally finished my Photostory, uploaded it on to Photobucket, and put it on my blog. It took a lot of work, but it was worth it. I also finished all the documentation.

Today I finished everything in the Design and Plan phases! The storyboard, the flowchart, and the narration. All done! Next lesson I will finally be able to start my actual Photostory!

Today I finished my storyboard, and I also timed my narration, 1 min 32 seconds!
I am starting my flowchat, I think I will be done by the end of next lesson.

Today we collected more information and pictures for our photostory project. I'm doing it on the Native American Indians, and I found a few pictures and A LOT of information about them!

11th October

Today I didn't do much, we spent a lot of the time deciding on what subjects you could have for your photstory. I decided to mine on Pedro Alvares Cabral, but then I changed to Native Americans.

We started to collect media for our photostory today.

October 4th

Today I tried uploading my photostory on Photobucket again. This time it worked! Mrs Dietrich thinks that it was just a problem witht the internet connection. Thats all that happened because it took so long to upload!!

Today we tried Photobucket. We signed up and immediately tried to put our photostories on our accounts, but it didn't work because of the file type. We tried to do it in lots of different ways but it wouldn't work.

We're going to try again next lesson!!

Investigation - What is image hosting?

Image hosting services let people store and upload images on to a website, for free. This is good because it let you have more free space on your computer memory!

Today I finally finished my first photostory!! We made title pages with powerpoint which is a lot better. The 2007 version of microsoft is a lot easier to work with than the 2003 one! It also has a lot more options to make your presentation really aestethic.

Today was fun!! I enjoyed it a lot!

Storyboarding: What is it?

A storyboard is a place where you can plan out your digital story in two different areas, before you make your finished story. The first area is time, where you say what goes where and when. The second is sound and interaction, the music and how the slides change, and also if you have a voiceover (which is your voice telling the story while you see the pictures).

Today in class we did Photostories for the first time! I finished mine first!
It was really fun, mine was about puppies because I think they are so cute.

My favourite part was adding the music because it was funny listening to all the different types!


I had fun today! :)

Reflection on September 13th

Today I learnt how to make a photostory with the tutorial on the website Ms. Dietrich gave us on our blog. It was pretty easy to learn, because we have already learned about windows movie maker, which is almost the same thing.
I also watched the suffragette movie, and the humanitites project movie.

Thats what I did today!

What programs can you use for digital storytelling?



There are loads of programs that you can use. Since we are on Windows, we can use programs such as Windows Movie Maker, Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere Elements.

Are they Opensource?



Most of these tools are, but some programs cost a lot of money. Some of the ones that cost a lot of money give you free trials for a few days and then if you like it you can buy it.
